Last week, the Nueces River Authority (NRA) held an industry briefing for its proposed 100 MGD (378,500 m3/d) SWRO plant on Harbor Island in Corpus Christi, Texas. NRA Executive Director John Byrum began the meeting by providing an overview of the project to over 120 attendees, who included a mix of project developers, EPC contractors, consultants, and equipment companies.

ECAWP JPA Receives “AA” Fitch Credit Rating

The East County Advanced Water Purification Joint Powers Authority (JPA) recently received a ‘AA’, outlook stable rating from U.S. credit rating agency, Fitch Rating. Fitch assigned the ‘AA’ rating to $415 million of interim notes that will be issued to finance the design and construction of the East County Advanced Water Purification (AWP) Program. The East County AWP Program will create a local, clean, safe and drought-proof drinking water supply using state-of-the-art technology to purify East San Diego County’s recycled water.

Construction Begins on $950 Million East County Water Purification Plant
The construction is set to be completed in 2026 at a cost of $950 million. The program will create 11.5 million gallons of water per day. The four organizations comprising the East County JPA say the program will create a new, local, sustainable and drought-proof drinking water supply using new technology to purify East San Diego County's recycled water.

South Coast Water District Accepts Water Cost Analysis for Doheny Ocean Desalination Project
At its September 2nd Board meeting, the South Coast Water District (SCWD) directors unanimously accepted an independent water cost analysis for its proposed Doheny Ocean Desalination Project. The report, which was prepared by project finance and municipal consultant Clean Energy Capital, compared the costs of building a SWRO project against a “no desal” option, and analyzed its impacts on ratepayers over the next 30 years under several scenarios.
