South Coast Water District Earns National AMWA Gold Award for Excellence in Utility Performance

Austin, TX - South Coast Water District (SCWD) has earned the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) 2025 Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance, recognizing SCWD’s leadership, effective utility management, and sustained commitment to customers and the region. The award was presented on October 27 at AMWA’s Executive Management Conference in Austin, Texas.

Nueces River Authority (NRA) Industry briefing for mega-SWRO

Last week, the Nueces River Authority (NRA) held an industry briefing for its proposed 100 MGD (378,500 m3/d) SWRO plant on Harbor Island in Corpus Christi, Texas. NRA Executive Director John Byrum began the meeting by providing an overview of the project to over 120 attendees, who included a mix of project developers, EPC contractors, consultants, and equipment companies.

Fitch Upgrades Channelside's Carlsbad Desalination Plant Debt to 'A-'

Fitch Ratings has upgraded the following debt issued by the California Pollution Control Financing Authority on behalf of Channelside Water Resources LP (Channelside, formerly Poseidon Resources (Channelside) LP) and the San Diego County Water Authority for the Carlsbad desalination plant to “A-“ from “BBB”. The San Diego County Water Authority provides all revenue for the project.

SCWD Achieves Major Milestone in Doheny Ocean Desalination Project

SCWD achieves a major milestone in the Doheny Ocean Desalination Project with award of the Phase 1 progressive design-build-operate-maintain contract. The Doheny Project, when completed, will produce 5 million gallons per day (MGD) of drinking water, substantially enhancing the reliability and quality of water supply to SCWD’s service area.

Water District discusses cost study of GA’s imported water pipeline

In March 2024, the Water District approved a measure to pay Clean Energy Capital to complete a cost study on building and operating a pipeline, as well as the cost of purchasing water from Antelope Valley. At the Water District board meeting on June 10, Clean Energy Capital provided their findings in a presentation to the Water District.
