December 29, 2017
SAN JOSE - The Santa Clara Valley Water District releases a website Friday to provide the public with information about its Expedited Purified Water Program; the District’s public-private partnership (P3) procurement process, and related background, updates, and District contacts.
The website can be found at: http://www.valleywater.org/P3-Purified-Water/
About the Expediated Purified Water Program
The Expedited Purified Water Program (Program) is part of the District’s strategy to respond to the current drought and is consistent with Board direction to expand the County’s water supply. As currently conceived, the Program could provide up to 45,000 acre-feet per year (AFY) of purified water for indirect and/or direct potable reuse to supplement groundwater recharge from other existing sources, such as imported and locally-stored water supply.
About Santa Clara Valley Water District
The Santa Clara Valley Water District, located in San Jose, Calif., manages an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County’s 1.9 million residents.
The District effectively manages 10 dams and surface water reservoirs, three water treatment plants, an advanced recycled water purification center, a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory, and nearly 400 acres of groundwater recharge ponds, providing wholesale water and groundwater management services to local municipalities and private water retailers who deliver drinking water to homes and businesses.
The District is the flood control agency for Santa Clara County, annually preparing creeks for winter rains through levee maintenance, sediment removal, bank repair and vegetation management. The District has invested more than $1 billion in flood protection efforts to protect nearly 100,000 parcels with many more projects planned.
